DEAR DIARY.

Everyone has childhood memories. Some of them are kept between the pages of a small book called diary; recorded in handwritten words, drawings, paper cuts and herbarium. Recently, I found one of my old diaries. I flipped through the pages, remembering what has been forgotten. And seeing. Seeing how in these small entries there are no second thoughts of how all those letters form the sentences; no thoughts of whether the handwriting or drawings are perfect enough. How free I was to express my thoughts and emotions on these pages, once “Dear Diary” was written in black ink.

June, 21st. “Red ball with a yellow star”

Dear Diary, today I draw a star on my old ball. I wanted to give it something special since it’s my favourite ball. And also because I was rather bored. I’m not allowed to draw on walls after all. Although they would make a pretty nice canvas if you ask me. When I showed my now decorated ball to my mum, she told me that it looks like a tomato. It sure is and that makes it even more special.

April, 1st. “Perfect shoes”

Dear Diary, my mum has so many beautiful shoes. I wish I could wear them. But I cannot. Firstly, because they are way too big for me. Secondly, because I am not allowed to. But I am not sad about it. Today I drew myself a pair of perfect shoes. And they sort of match with my favourite ball. They also look like a tomato.

 August, 21th. “Dreams”.

Dear Diary, it’s the most perfect weather outside. The sun is shining bright and there are almost no clouds in the sky. I am waiting for my mum to come home so that we can go to the nearby park (our favourite). She promised we would go. While I am waiting I am dreaming of the flowers I would see in the  park, and of little birds swimming in the small pond (my mum told me their names, but I forgot again).
